Very nice story. I too like the open ending. It spurs you to think yourself about, what could happen to Melissa in the future.
That doesn't mean i wouldn't want to read a sequel.

I am sure, each time at dinner she will think about "Isn't there too much food on my plate? Do they want to fatten me?" ;)

I could very well imagine Keith having his way with her some day. and for sure she will not live to see her 16th birthday.

As Rita said, she had an issue, with her husband fucking Melissa, “unless she was getting the chop too!", perhaps, she has to go, for the sake of marital peace.
Interesting would also, to have the meat truck also take live meat. Melissa would go on a journey with uncertain goal, but definitely without return.
