I don't want to spoil, but I will say that I've only given her these "freebie" consequence-free mutilations because the main cast is quite small and therefor if she dies, is crippled, or is incapacitated for extended periods, the story kinda has to end. I intend on expanding the main cast, at which point doing permanent damage to Jed will be more possible, as there will be others to pick up slack (both in the in-universe sense and the meta storytelling sense).
