Well, in 1413, Tolsik was elected and acclaimed the High Chieftain of the Pompian Republic, and his goons quickly set about taking Tolsik’s more moderate political enemies out of office. They jabbed great pointy sticks and spiked those opponents in their bellies, so hard they coughed up blood. They slashed the clothes off of female Councillers and jabbed their throbbing pricks in them so hard that their cunts and derrieres bled, and bled profusely. They shot those enemies to death, some in the Council Room itself. They poured gasoline in the Council House and set it aflame. Thus the Pompian Republic died and the Tolsiki Empire was born. Everyone was afraid then, and rightfully so. The Tolsiki began to build up their army and their navy, and the Tarsonians were slow to react. We didn’t respond enough to the threat in those first couple of years. We finally got a new Sachem in the Sachem-House in 1415, but it was too late. The Tolsiki rearmament was well along.
I was a young woman now. I still lived by my parents, but had a rowhouse that I shared with three sisters, Mara, Sarinya, and Avai. In 1418 I was 25, Mara was 21, Sarinya was 23, and Avai was the youngest, 20 years old. If you care to know what we looked like, suffice it to say we were young, pretty, had straight hair that fell to our shoulders but no further, our bosoms and waists were both modest, and we were rather demure. Yes, Sarinya and Avai liked the boys. They often dated them and Avai had a boyfriend, Middo Arhat. Mara liked girls. She planned to marry one someday, a buxum elf named Oppai Gungnam. And me? Akina? Well, I was coming off my first and only husband, Alsik Opki. He had seemed sweet and charming at first, luring me with flowers and sweets and gifts. We fell in love and I got married. However, he wanted me to have one baby for every room in his eight-room house, and I balked. No way did I want a family that large! I kept refusing his advances and then came one night. One unspeakably cruel night. He punched me in the cheek. My nose bled. I slammed against the far wall and punched a hole in the plasterboard with my suddenly hurting butt. I swung at him but my boobs swung with me, knocking my momentum off balance (oops). I swung again, and this time my hair got in my eyes and I blinked through my tears. He chopped into my upper arm, which stung, and I kicked him in the balls, which both injured my big toe and caused him to howl in pain. He tried to choke me. He put his hands around my neck and squeezed hard for several minutes. My vision faded and started dazzling me, and I may have blacked out. When I came to, I was on the floor and the bedroom was a mess. It was then that I realized I had to leave. So I went to live with my sisters in their townhouse, and a Council office granted me a divorce a couple weeks later. That had been a very emotional time.
But it was nothing compared to what was to come. In 1418, Jokim Tolsik declared war. He would wipe out the elves of Tarson, he proclaimed. He set about mandating restrictions on Tarsonians in his own country. Elves had to wear armbands and have their right ear pierced in the point. They were forbidden from government jobs, from the media, from the stage, from law, from practicing medicine on Tolsiki/Pompard humans, from universities and regular schools, and from numerous different trades and professions. They were banned from theaters, from the parks, from trolleys and buses, and from owning land. They were not allowed to have flags out their windows supporting the Tolsiki, but had to have elven flags out of their house. They had to give up dragons, knives, radios, magic wands. Horror followed upon horror…
