well , that may be true if author is dead or unreachable, but when author is available it makes more sense to ask than let your imagination to fill the holes ;) and then spend all day thinking if you got it right.

Also style is not the main issue here, but rather that thing that it is totally unknown what is the point of all that.

It may be ok if the story is very short like the first one when just some event is described without any context but when it gets longer and more complex you inevitably start thinking about other things.

I noticed that issue with pictures that when you have just single picture any kind of nonsense is fine, but if you make longer series it requires decent plot.
