>And if you want to return to the topic of art: it's not honest art if you do it for other's approval. One who makes a work of art because they themselves want such a work of art to exist is an artist. One who makes it because that's what the audience demands is a businessman.

I never said word "approval" I said "response".
Like I said before art is pretty much trolling when you make people feel what you want them to feel not what they want.
however there is a fine line how to make those people to consume your art rather than just passing by and at the same time push your desired narrative onto them against their will.

If you create something and you get huge list of response where people say that this is disgusting it is the nastiest things they ever seen that they will tell everyone they know about how horrible it is and that nobody should ever look at that art
As an artist you can be proud of doing great job because people are consuming your art and feelling something about it.
Most successful pieces of art managed to cause so much ruckus to even start political debates implementing censorship laws and conflicts in the society.

When that happens other artists to rush into that bandwagon and start producing something similar causing even more undrests in society until eventually everyone gets used to that and nobody cares anymore. and it is time to get back to the drawing board to invent something more controversial.

same with standup comedy were performer is mocking audience in all way possible but rather than getting offended they listen and laugh. even in another setting that person woud be beaten for saying things like that

Of course not all art can get to the level of Malevich's "Black square"
But in our situation a cute girl mutilating herself may also do the job.
