I like the idea of a girl not wanting or planning to allow herself to be killed, and having every right to refuse, but sort of automatically going along with it when told to, maybe not really processing what's happening before it's done. Maybe she takes a job that involves that but either didn't realize or didn't intend to do it herself until called, or she's just approached and asked to by surprise, or someone confuses her for someone else.
