I'm not one to comment frequently but here are my two cents. I believe most of the problem is due to the indirect method of publishing. Since the author is not participating in the debate it discourages people from commenting, as every reply won't get to him directly, and we won't know his reaction directly. I, for one, want more stories from him, and will keep reading them as he posts, but if he wants interaction, he is going to need to 'break the ice', so to speak.
