Satsuki awoke to find herself bound hand and foot, suspended from the ceiling of a decrepit old mansion. She looked down at her own body, which she saw was completely naked except for a white gag stuffed into her mouth. Panic set in as she struggled futilely against her bonds, but her efforts only resulted in agonizing pain shooting up through her shoulders and wrists.

As she thrashed around helplessly, she heard eerie laughter and whispers coming from the shadows around her. Soon after, the spirits appeared before her - cold, malevolent entities that seemed to be made of twisted smoke and fire. They spoke among themselves, their words sounding like crackling static in her ears.

The spirits turned towards Satsuki and began to circle her slowly, taunting and teasing her with their haunting voices. Then, without warning, one spirit reached out and ripped off her gag, exposing her to the icy air. Another grabbed hold of the ropes tying her hands behind her back and pulled so hard that she cried out in pain. Her legs were freed next, allowing her knees to buckle beneath her and land hard onto the rough wooden floor below. But despite the relief at having her bindings removed, Satsuki knew that whatever happened next could not be good.

The spirits danced around her, snickering and giggling to each other while pinching and slapping her exposed skin. Eventually, one of the spirits, looking more solid than the others, stepped forward and lowered itself to her eye level. Its face had two luminous eyes staring deep into hers, feeling intrusive and violating. "You shouldn't have come here," it whispered harshly, yet softly in her ear, sending goosebumps across her entire body. "Your mother has a lot of unfinished business with us."

Satsuki tried to scream or plead, but nothing came out of her parched throat. As the ghost released her neck to let her breathe again, she caught a glimpse of the fading shadows cast upon the walls. Too many to count, they revealed how many times her own mother had provoked these very spirits.

Satsuki's heart raced as the ghosts continued to torment her, their fingers clawing at her flesh and their whispers piercing her soul. She wanted to fight back, to escape, but her limbs felt heavy and weak, as if controlled by some invisible force.

Then, suddenly, the ghosts stopped their assault and retreated into the shadows once more, leaving Satsuki alone and trembling on the floor. In the silence that followed, she heard the creaking of old wood and the faint rustling of fabric. When she looked up, she saw several of the ghosts gathered around her, their spectral forms now clothed in tattered robes and hoods.

One of them approached her cautiously, holding something in its translucent fingers. As it drew closer, Satsuki realized it was a rope, tied into a noose. The ghost's cold breath brushed against her cheek as it whispered, "This is for you."

Panic surged through Satsuki's veins as she watched the ghost lift the noose over her head and pull it tight. She struggled to break free, kicking and writhing, but the rope held fast, cutting into her neck. Frantic tears streamed down her face as she gazed up at the grinning ghost, watching as it adjusted the noose ever so slightly until it fit just right.

And then, without warning, the ghost gave the rope a violent tug, yanking Satsuki off the ground. She kicked her bare feet, her toes curling in agony as they struck the dusty floorboards. With every passing moment, the pressure around her neck grew stronger, choking her voice, crushing her windpipe, suffocating her senses.

Through blurring vision, Satsuki saw the shadowy figures surrounding her begin to move in a rhythmic pulse, arms flailing and legs stamping, as though engaged in some macabre dance. Their barren feet hit the wooden planks with a haunting beat, creating a sinister symphony that matched the burning in her neck. And all the while, Satsuki dangled helplessly, grasping for purchase, fighting for life itself.

As Satsuki hung there, suspended between this world and the next, time lost all meaning. Each second stretched on forever, each breath a torturous struggle for survival. Despite everything, however, some small part of her remained defiant, refusing to give up without a fight.

She clung to that inner strength, drawing on the willpower left inside her, and began to thrash and squirm once more. It wasn't much, only tiny movements at first, almost imperceptible, but it was enough to shake loose some of the shackles binding her. Bit by bit, she worked herself free, finger by finger, hand by hand, until finally, she broke loose completely.

With renewed energy, Satsuki surged forward, lunging at the nearest ghost, teeth bared in a feral snarl. She aimed a wild punch at its ethereal form, connecting with an intangible jolt that reverberated throughout her arm.

For a brief instant, the ghost seemed startled, almost taken aback by the sudden resistance. Then, with a haunting laugh, it disappeared along with the rest of the specters, dissolving into a swirling fog that dispersed and drifted away into nothingness. Alone once more, Satsuki collapsed onto the rough-hewn floor, gasping for air, grateful simply to be alive.

It took her moments to fully understand what happened; the mist cleared, revealing once again the dark attic room filled with discarded belongings and forgotten memories. Still spent from her previous exertion, Satsuki lay there silently, listening to her battered and bruised heartbeat thumping in her chest. Time would heal these wounds, eventually mending the physical damage inflicted by whatever entity still resided here in Dahlia Heights. Whether the psychological trauma could be overcome, however, remained anyone's guess.

In the meantime, surrounded by fearsome reminders of her childhood home, Satsuki closed her eyes once more and silently prayed. Perhaps, just perhaps, if she pretended deeply enough, the horror waiting beyond nightfall might never find her again…
