Another short story that didn't fit into 250 words, but maybe it should have. I wonder if by trying to embellish it with vivid descriptions I might have spread it out too thin.

To the Other Side
(Vocaloids, Kagamine Len, Kagamine Rin, casual guro)
The light turned red just a second before the Kagamine twins could step onto the crosswalk.
“Great,” Len sighed.
“Yeah,” Rin agreed. “I hate big cities.”
It was a wide and busy road, and now they would have to wait for minutes, just standing and watching cars swoosh by. They were moving so fast, one could think they were in a race. Hmm…
“Hey,” Len turned to his sister with a mischievous glint in his eyes. “Let’s race through the traffic!”
“Another one of your silly games?” Rin rolled her eyes.
“Whoever gets to the other side first wins!” Len declared with a wide grin and rushed ahead across the street.
Rin wasn’t really interested, but being Len’s other half, it was only natural for her to follow.
As Rin weaved through the chaotic flurry of speeding cars, the horns blared, and the engines roared all around her, mixing into a cacophony of impending doom. Adrenaline coursed through Rin’s veins, making her senses sharp, and her movements coordinated as she skillfully maneuvered through the traffic like a nimble dancer. Her pulse thundered in her ears, matching the rhythm of her feet pounding against the uncaring asphalt pavement. Alright, Rin had to admit, this was actually fun. And she wouldn’t have had this fun without Len. As her other half, he completed her.
With all the thrill, it felt like an entire adventure, but in reality, it took Rin hardly ten seconds to reach the other side of the street. Even Len wasn’t there yet. Huh, Rin grinned smugly, had she beaten him at his own game? Expecting to see her brother hot on her heels, Rin turned to look back at the road. Instead, she saw Len lying in the middle of the road, tangled and contorted in grotesque ways, as blood pooled around him, mingling with the dusty asphalt. Rin didn’t simply run a bit faster than her brother. She made it all the way to the finish line while he got run over by a truck halfway through. Rin gleamed even brighter at the full extent of her triumph. Now, was there any chance he was still alive so that she could rub it in his face? Ha-ha-ha.
Rin leisurely walked back to her brother through the now halted traffic and kneeled over his mangled body. His face was marred with a grimace of pain frozen in time, but as Rin looked deep into his wide-open eyes, she saw them being totally empty. More for amusement than anything else, she gave him a flick on the nose. Nope, dead as a doornail, Rin giggled, left this world for good… and then suddenly, a new realization hit her. Len’s death wasn’t at all her triumph… it was his! Rin stood up with a smirk on her face and gave Len’s corpse a playful kick. What a rascal, to win without even knowing it!
Yes, Rin understood, Len was dead. And by that, he had reached “the other side” first! Even if it was in a very different sense than he intended, it meant that Len had unwittingly won this game in the most ingenious and spectacular way! Rin looked down at the ruined remains of her beloved brother with a warm smile. His victory filled her heart with more sincere and wholesome happiness than her own. As two parts of a whole, the twins never really cared which of them won, just that they had fun. And this was as fun an outcome as this game could have possibly had!
