What it makes me think (and the rest of the story too, but also this point in particular) is that the whole story is a roleplay with an AI. So the AI roleplaying as sister just goes with whatever the author roleplaying as brother says, who also just makes stuff up on the go and then sees how it would go before proceeding to the next prompt. Notice a number of times the brother says "actually, nevermind, better do that instead" as if not satisfied with AI's response / not having a proper prior plan for the story.

Well, it's better then nothing, and I can't say I wasn't using AI assistance for my own latest stories, so I'm not in a position to blame the author… just saying that's what it felt like.
