“Ouch!” Len cried as he stepped onto a sharp rock. The pain made him lose balance, and in his fall to the ground he tried to hold onto his sister's hand. But in the suddenness of the whole situation Len didn’t properly measure the necessary strength and ended up pulling on Rin’s hand so hard he ended up throwing her onto the ground in front of himself. Everything went on so quickly that Len only realized what had happened when he found himself lying on top of Rin.
“Ha-ha-ha!” Len laughed, as he sat up. “I guess that’s one way to cushion the impact!”
He expected Rin to laugh with him at the absurdity of the situation, but she remained silent.
“Oh, sorry, Rin,” Len looked down at his sister worriedly. “Does it hurt?”
It was only now that he noticed how Rin’s head fell right onto the curb and a puddle of blood was spreading under it.
“What, are you dead?” Len giggled, as he turned Rin’s head to face him and saw her empty eyes. “Lol, for real!”
Len burst into laughter harder than before. Just a moment ago he tightly held his beloved sister’s hand and now as simple as that he didn’t have a sister anymore. It was the funniest thing that could possibly happen to a pair of twins. Opening with such a knee slapper, this day promised to be a lot of fun. Now if only Len’s foot wasn’t still hurting from the rock.
