Just a funny thought I had today. Someone on reddit was saying they're Indian living in America and miss the green and red dot markings they have in India for vegetarian and non-vegetarian food. And that made me think: huh, so that's what the red dot they put on girls in India mean. That they're non-vegetarian food, thus establishing they are indeed food.

This can then lead to various ideas:

- A setting like Edward Hyde's Sydneyverse, and such red dots on girls are used to indicate they're raised for meat. Perhaps it _is_ the Sydneyverse, just with Indian regional specific, where this is their way to repurpose the significance of red dots for the modern age.

- A setting like L's Naked on the Street, but instead of nudity it's these dot markings that indicate consent. Might be further expanded to use different colors for different things, like green = free hug, red = free sex, black = free snuff.

- A setting where just like in real life red dots on Indian girls do not mean they're food. But a clueless tourist doesn't know that. He has heard about vegetarian / non-vegetarian food markings, and upon seeing girls with red dots assumes that's what they mean. This is where hentai/guro logic kicks in, as instead of being horrified by believing Indians eating their girls, he gets curious about such an exotic tradition and excited to partake in it. And the locals, including the girl to be eaten, become enthusiastic about it as well, deciding that going along with the tourist's misunderstanding and pretending this is indeed their tradition will do wonders to attracting more tourists (not to mention how playing along with the misunderstanding is just a fun and funny thing to do). Perhaps it's a remote little town that seldom has tourists, but now they seize the opportunity to play that remoteness card in their favor and go "it's only here that the old girl-eating tradition is still alive, in other places girls still wear red dots, but only ceremoniously and aren't eaten anymore, only here they still are". But then, of course, if this setting is to be continued, eventually other places might want a piece of this little town's new popularity too and will join in the "revival" of this "old tradition" (but the town will still be alright, keeping attraction as the place that started this revival).
