Well, I wouldn't say it would've been an entirely different story, but that's of course for the author to judge. It's just that with the way the story felt like it was leading that way, at least for me, it left me with some unfulfilled expectations. And even viewing it from the perspective of the story rather than my personal feelings, the story is overall great alright, but it just missed an excellent opportunity for an even greater ending.
