My name is Jacob and I am just 12 years old. I live in a small, highly religious town called Valoria. This town has a dark secret, one that is kept hidden from the outside world. Every year, on the first day of the harvest, twelve boys are selected from our community to be sacrificed to the gods. One for each month of the year.

Growing up, we were all aware of this tradition. It was seen as a great honor to be chosen as one of the twelve boys. The families of the chosen boys were filled with pride and admiration, believing that their son's sacrifice would bring good fortune and blessings to our town.

But for us boys, it was a fate that we dreaded. We had heard the stories of the previous sacrifices, the brutal torture they endured before their painful deaths. We were all terrified, but there was nothing we could do to change our fate.

The selection process was a long and agonizing one. We were all gathered in the town square, stripped naked and examined by the priests to ensure our purity. Our families watched in pride as we were chosen, not realizing what horrors awaited us.

Once selected, we were taken to a secret location, where we were physically, mentally and emotionally tortured. We were humiliated, beaten, and even burned with hot coals. The priests believed that the more pain and suffering we endured, the more the gods would favor us.

I remember my torture vividly. My captors would mock me for being a virgin, taunting me for being weak and unworthy of the gods. They would cut me with sharp knives, leaving me bleeding and in excruciating pain. They would laugh as they watched me cry and beg for mercy, telling me that I was not worthy of a quick death.

But the worst part was knowing that there was no escape. I could hear the faint screams of the other boys being tortured, and I knew that soon it would be my turn. I couldn't help but think of my family, and how they were supporting this inhumane tradition. Did they truly believe that my death would bring them blessings?

The day of the sacrifice arrived, and we were all brought back to the town square, still naked and bruised from our torture. We were now just shells of our former selves, broken and terrified.

As the executions began, my heart raced with fear. I watched as the first boy was tied to a stake, his cries echoing throughout the square. I could feel myself shaking, knowing that soon it would be my turn.

My body was still erect from the torture, a sign of my fear and pain. I looked at the other boys, and I could see the same terror in their eyes. We were all just innocent children, forced to endure unimaginable horrors for the sake of a twisted tradition.

When it was finally my turn, I was tied to the stake, my body bruised and bloody. The executioner slowly sawed through my neck with a dull knife, the pain unlike anything I had ever felt before. It seemed to last for an eternity, each second feeling like an eternity.

As my head rolled to the ground, my last thoughts were of my family and the innocence that had been taken from us. We were just victims of a cruel and barbaric tradition, one that I hoped would one day end.

But for now, my head was placed on a spike, my naked body displayed for all to see. My death was seen as a spectacle, a celebration of our town's faith. But to me, it was the ultimate betrayal of my own people.
