Tommy was an 11-year-old boy living in a highly religious small town. Every Easter, the town would select a boy under twelve years old to be publicly crucified until dead. Even though Tommy was a good student, an excellent athlete, and a kind and caring person, he knew this made him a prime candidate for the selection.

When the lottery finally took place, he didn't want to believe it when his name was drawn. He heard a gasp come from his classmates and he looked to them with a look of terror on his face. The members of the church that was conducting the lottery came towards him and ordered him to strip naked in front of his classmates. He started shaking and couldn't move for a few moments, but eventually he started to take off his clothes. He felt so exposed and ashamed of his body, especially his penis. Despite his embarrassment, he was still aware of the eyes of his classmates lingering on him and his body, especially his penis which had become inexplicably fully erect, as if in defiance of the situation he was in.

Once the members of the church had him in their custody, they made him walk through the town to the local church, wearing nothing but his crucifix and sandals in a procession of shame. As he walked he got a glimpse of everyone he had ever known in the town - their faces filled with sorrow and disbelief at what was happening to a child they had watched grow up.

Once joined the church, they led him to the crucifix that had been set up for him and forced him to get on it. Halfway up the cross, Tommy could see a wooden pole stuck at an angle that he knew was the contraption they would use to ensnare him. He was too scared to move, letting them lift him up and rest him on the pole until it was inside him.

He screamed in pain and anger as they nailed him to the cross at his ankles and wrists. After he was secured they slowly began to raise the cross until he was fully visible to the entire town.

As the hours passed, blood and sweat ran down his face and body and he felt weaker and weaker. He heard the whispers of the townspeople mocking him, telling him how much better his life would have been if not for this. He also heard the laughter of the girls in his class as they reminisced about what it would have been like to spend a night with him and even bear his children.

Eventually, his strength and will to live started fading away, and he accepted his fate with a head held high. He closed his eyes and peacefully waited for his end, feeling as if he was taking the place of Jesus Christ himself in a moment of self-sacrifice.

The last words he heard were a woman telling him that he would always be remembered before his death came. He hadn't expected to leave such a lasting legacy, but as he closed his eyes he was sure of one thing: he didn't die in vain.
