I would like to vote for numbers 3 and 4.
I would especially like it though if in three the mom failed to find people to addopt a few of her kids! The kid's reactions to not getting picked could be VERY enticeing. First just the disapointment and/or fear of having to die, but also the betrayal of people in their family they expect to love them not carring enough to take them in even if it means they will have to die. BUT ALSO, there is the opportunity to involve cousinly competition. Maybe someone was about to be adopted but then the girl's cousin askes their parent not to for, *a reason of your choice,* or maybe convinces her parent to adopt a different sister over the other. LOTS OF FUN FAMILY DYNAMICS AND BETRAYAL TO PLAY WITH!!! Maybe the mom even sabotages a couple of her, "least favorite," daughters that would otherwise have lived? WHO KNOWS?!?! the possibilities are endless!
As for four, its a tried and true formula, though the idea that maybe there is an additional wrinkle that maybe instead of normal employees being fired the business has decided to end its internship program with the local High-school, *for a reason of your choice,* could add an extra bit of fun. OR maybe instead the business if Firing all of their female employees and paid college interns because they are about to START an unpaid internship program WITH the local highschool! This could also be a fun idea!
Also, despite the bellow pic., if I actually had a vote to cast it would be for my version of the Family reunion idea!
