How about this: cataclysms as tourist attractions. In the future where natural disasters can be predicted beforehand all people who don't want to die are safely evacuated... but then people who don't mind dying and want to see such a grandiose event from the first row flock to the emptied city, and eventually tourism organizations make it all more organized. Tourists don't mind dying if they get to first hand experience a massive earthquake, a volcano eruption, a tsunami, a meteorite fall, or if we talk father into the future, observe collision of two planets from the surface of one of those planets, now that would be a unique view worth dying for. This idea is actually inspired by Mass Effect which mentions planets (or a planet and a huge asteroid?) on a collision course and how the long-living asari race is already selling tickets to watching this spectacle... of course they probably don't mean from the surface, but my guro-oriented mind immediately jumped at the idea that it would be fun if it actually did include the experience of dying in the event.
