Honestly, I just had a bit of time and some inspiration yesterday, so I bashed this out and posted it without really thinking it through. The cannibalism at the end was part of the original 14th century story, and didn't have any explanation there either, so I just copied it without trying to add much of anything. I agree that the story could have used a lot more thought and development. It's not at all clear to me if cannibalism was "acceptable" in the original or if it was supposed to be horrifying, especially since the necrophilia was presented so causally, as if it was completely normal to fuck dead girls when you happen across them. As you've suggested, it wouldn't be that hard to come up with in-universe reasons for all this stuff, but I just couldn't be bothered this time.

Hopefully next time I feel like writing, I will finish one of the longer stories that I've been working on for the last few months. I really don't spend very much of my time on this hobby, so well thought out stories take quite a long time to complete. :-/
