Okay, I'm really liking Michael. He seems the most grounded and sane person so far, which makes sense as the rest of the cast introduced so far have mainly been women, who have been conditioned in a Dolcett world. So it makes sense that he might not have snuff bunny tendencies. I have to say though, that that didn't answer ANY of my theories and Natalie's ultimate fate is still completely shrouded in mystery! I'm eagerly waiting for what happens next.

I would say also that while I understand that in this futuristic world, children may be more educated and more emotionally intelligent then present society, but some of Natalie's thoughts and comments still come off as coldly clinical and beyond her years. I would have perhaps preferred if Natalie used the term "poop" with a childish giggle at the thought (poop jokes), as opposed to the more clinical "feces." Or else, there should probably be a quick mention in the introduction of the story about the higher maturity levels to explain this away because I'm having trouble reconciling it with the modern day and have to remind myself of your comments earlier.

I would also recommend more banter between Natalie and her father. When Natalie offers a breast, the father could have playfully commented that being so little they would hardly be a meal. I had to double check and their size was confirmed in the 11th paragraph of your story =D. Simultaneously, drawing attention to the small size and the idea that she won't live to see them grow larger, could also have played a role in keeping the reader guessing at her fate as it gives her another reason to renege on her promise. But that's not really necessary.

I must say, I am looking forward to the final reveal and the symbolism (if any) behind a meat girl at a wedding feast. Is it just food, like any other, or does it take the place of the wedding cake? Which part goes to the bride and groom?
