Like you, it's the little, almost throw-away elements that really get my motor running and in this chapter it was the idea of the "ticking clock" in the kitchen counting down to her big day! Also intrigued to see how things are going to go when Nattie turns up for class in her birthday suit! Will it cause a stir or is it so normalised by then it will be just another day? Will she be the only one? Perhaps there will be maybe 3-5 other girls in the school on the same path and they can form a sort of club?
