No, eating girls is not legal in Savory Sixteen. Brit pointedly requests that her parents buy off the police to let her get away with her wild new idea of serving girl meat at her party. Lucky for her, although it wasn't legal, eating girls was rapidly gaining popularity at the time, so it wasn't as difficult to get away with as it should have been. I thought about slipping in a hint that the police had started turning a blind eye to eating (willing) girls, but it didn't really fit into the story anywhere. Twenty years later, in Triplet's Savory Sixteen, eating girls has become entirely legal and normal. When I write them, I'll make sure to call out some of the details of that transition in the stories which take place in those intervening years.

Rape is also not legal, and the MC starts the story deeply horrified by the idea of rape, but I intended to show her gradual abandonment of her morals over the course of the story. Yes, she is strongly triggered by that moment when she perceives her BFF to be in the same situation which had destroyed her own family, but she recognizes that she overreacted afterward. She only reluctantly agreed to "pretend to rape" Mandy to test the potion, and that was mostly because she was pretty sure Mandy had a crush on Brit, so she wouldn't mind. After getting a taste of what it was like to be on the controlling side of a rape situation, she became more corrupted and more willing to take part in the larger rape scene later. From the MC's point of view, her whole world is just about to end, so doing something horrible to some girls she doesn't care about doesn't really matter that much any more.

As for her older sisters, the MC really isn't mad at them specifically, she is just generally sick of being trapped in a terrible situation, which she can't do anything about. By the start of the story, she feels that no one in her family even cares about her, so her entire identity gets wrapped around her crush on her BFF. The moment Brit gives her an "out" to abandon her family and dedicate her entire life to the only person she thinks cares about her, she jumps at that chance, even if it means she will have to die catering to Brit's selfish desires. Later, when she gives up on going back to her little sisters, a lot of that is because she feels powerless again, and rationalizes away her choice to submit, accepting the idea that her family never loved her and has truly already forgotten her. One thing the MC never knew, and therefore couldn't have written about, was that her step-dad was the one who made the deal with Amber, and the MC's mom never tried to contact her because of that same terror which kept her in denial about what her husband was doing to her daughters. (That whole family was seriously fucked up, but that's the kind of background which the first few "willing" meatgirls would likely come from.)

Most of the rest of their society would have been horrified by the group rape and then the under-aged orgy at the party, but the spoiled rich girl and her broken, morally bankrupt girlfriend didn't care about that. After this, the rising popularity of eating girls erodes society's view of girl's rights as well, so the situation in the later stories is quite different.

The maids arrived Friday evening, then the majority of them left Saturday night, just about when their parents expected them to come home. I forgot to call it out in the story, but the two exhausted maids who stayed one extra night left first thing Sunday morning. By my count, that would be 2 nights, and not very much of the day on either side at the most. Honestly, I was so focused on the main characters in that part of the narrative, that I forgot all about them and the fact that their parents should have been very concerned about them being missing for an extra night. Presumably, Brit's parents knew about the drugged maids, and covering for a couple girls staying longer than expected was something they dealt with, along with turning away any police inquiries about the party.


Finally, you can assume that any of my stories which are not listed above as part of the Savoryverse, are most likely in independent worlds. It was tempting to try to put all my stories in one world, but after my first couple stories, I realized that I had several incompatible "origin stories" I wanted to tell about the introduction of cannibalism, so I would have to split them up into multiple, unrelated worlds.
