“Hey trouble, still awake?” Laura asked, peeping around Samantha’s bedroom door.

“Yeah,” Samantha admitted from the darkness, “I was trying to sleep but I keep thinking about the party and all the cool things that are going to happen before then!”

“That’s okay,” Laura assured her, coming into the room and sitting on the edge of her bed without turning on the light. “It’s not that late really, can you do me a favour?”

“Sure!” Samantha, who had been laying on her back with her arms folded behind her head, staring up at the ceiling, sat up and plumped her pillow to make it more comfortable to lean against. “What is it?”

“Well we were just making plans for the weekend,” Laura smiled, “something fun for you and Daddy to do on Saturday since I’ve got a lot of shopping I want to do that I need you to keep him out of the way for!” She winked and Samantha giggled, the light from the hallway spilling through the open door being plenty to see by. She knew this meant her mum wanted to buy Christmas presents and needed her dad out of the way so he would not know what she had got for him and also so he would not interfere too much in her buying choices.

“Is that the favour?” Samantha giggled. “Keep Daddy busy?”

“Well no, not just that!” Laura laughed, realising that she was being rather too enigmatic. “Can you send Amelia a message, please, and ask her to pack a cute, Christmassy outfit for the weekend? Something she might wear if she was going to her grandparents on Christmas Day? I want you both to wear them on Saturday. You can wear the dress you wore to Sidney’s!” she grinned. “I washed it for you so it’s nice and fresh!”

“Sure!” Samantha grabbed her phone which was charging on the shelf of her bedside cabinet, safely tucked back so there was no chance of accidentally spilling water on it. “Wait…” she tilted her head and gave her mum a curious look. “Why doesn’t Daddy just message her? I’m pretty sure he has her number!”

“Yes, I’m pretty sure he does!” Laura laughed again, thinking of the message her husband had rather sheepishly shared with her earlier. “But I’m asking you because I want her outfit to be cute and family-friendly! I he sends her a message asking her to bring something special to wear for the weekend, she’ll probably show up with something from Anne Summers!”

“Fair!” giggled Samantha. “Okay, I’ll message her. Even if she’s asleep already, she should see the message early enough in the morning to pack something!”

“Thank you!” Laura leaned forward and kissed her daughter. “It should be fun.”

“Any more messages from your girlfriend?” she teased, going back downstairs and rejoining her husband on the sofa. Josh wordlessly passed his phone to let Laura see. “Oh so she misses you, huh?” she read the messages. “And can’t wait for tomorrow?” Before he knew what was happening, Josh saw that his wife was typing but when he tried to see what, she giggled like a naughty schoolgirl and turned her back to him, hunching her shoulders over the phone so he could not see the screen. “Aaaand send!” she giggled, before tossing the phone back to him. Curious and embarrassed, Josh looked at the message his wife had sent.

“I can’t wait either!” it read. “I’m gonna do you so hard you won’t know whether it’s Christmas or Easter!” His eyes went wide as he read but not as wide as they went when, a few seconds later, her reply came through.

“What?” Laura giggled. “Is she offended? Calling you a dirty old man?” she snatched the phone back and read Amelia’s response. “Ooh witty girl!” she nodded approvingly. “That’s a pretty good comeback for off-the-cuff!”

“Let’s pretend it’s both!” read Amelia’s reply. “So you can cum down my chimney and hunt for my eggs!”

“Aww!” Laura teased, still holding her husband’s phone as another message came through. “She can’t sleep because she’s too excited thinking about you! I think you’re gonna have to call her!” She passed him back his phone, more gently this time and with an encouraging smile.

“You think I should?” she asked nervously, fearing some sort of trap. “I mean, isn’t it pretty late? What about the school night rule?”

“She’s not our kid!” Laura reminded him with a shrug. “Doesn’t effect us if she’s a cranky bitch in the morning! But it sounds like she’s not going to be able to sleep unless she gets a bit of time with you so you’d be helping out really!”

“But what about her parents?” Josh tried not to think about his rapidly-growing erection, the phone feeling heavy in his hand. “Don’t you think they might…”

“If they have a problem,” Laura gave a mischievous grin, looking so much in that moment like her daughter, “I’ll sort them out! Now go on!” she urged him. “Before she starts to think you’ve gone off her!”

“Should I call her here?” Josh asked, still hesitant.

“No, silly!” she picked up a cushion off the sofa and whacked him with it. “Take it up to the bedroom. I’ll be up in half an hour so be done by then!”

“Okay, well if…” Josh began but Laura cut him off.

“Clock’s ticking!” she reminded him. “I’d get a move on if I were you!” Chucking to herself as her husband ran rather awkwardly up the stairs, Laura got comfy on the sofa, hugging the cushion she had used to playfully beat with with and found an old sitcom episode to enjoy while she waited.

“Knock, knock?” she called out playfully, opening the bedroom door a crack once the allocated time had passed. “Everyone decent in here?” Josh called out to her to come in. “Hope I’m not interrupting anything?” she grinned, coming into the room and closing the door behind her.

“No, she assures me she’s going to be able to sleep now!” Josh chuckled a little awkwardly. “Should at least keep her happy until tomorrow!”

“Aww you sweet man!” Laura teased. “So kind and selfless! I just hope you have something left for me?”
