Day 7 - Aftermath (continued)

One hand moves to cradle the back of my neck, pulling me down until our foreheads touch. The shower's heat and steam wrap around us both as Juliette stares up at me with devastating clarity.

I look back at her and feel tears well in my eyes again.

"Julie, they will be eating you alive tomorrow..." My voice is ragged. "They will make me eat you."

Juliette goes rigid against me, her grip on my shoulders tightening to the point of pain. Her breathing stops completely for a terrifying moment before resuming in short, sharp gasps. When she speaks, her voice sounds like it's been scraped raw.

"Then we make it worth it," she whispers, her words almost lost beneath the rushing water.

Her fingers slide up to frame my face, her thumbs brushing my cheekbones with gentle pressure.

"They cannot control everything," she continues, her voice gaining strength even as tears stream down her face. "They cannot control this."

She pulls me closer, her lips brushing against mine in a kiss that tastes like salt and desperation.

My hands find Juliette's waist instinctively, fingers digging into the slick skin as the water streams between us. She moans softly into the kiss, her body pressing closer until there's no space left between us. The steam curls around us both, thick and hot, filling my lungs with her essence.

"You will feel this when you are out there," Juliette murmurs against my lips, her fingers threading through my hair. "Tomorrow, no matter what happens..." She pulls back just enough to look at me, her eyes blazing with fierce conviction. "You will remember this."

Her hands slide down my chest, nails scraping lightly across your abdomen as she moves with purpose.

"I will remember everything, Julie."

Juliette's breath hitches when I speak, her fingers pausing in their downward trail along my abdomen. She studies my face with an intensity that makes my pulse quicken, as if trying to memorize every detail. The water streams down both of us, droplets catching in her eyelashes before falling away. She reaches up to brush her thumb across my bottom lip, her touch remaining just a moment too long.

"I want to remember this too," she says, words unsteady. Her fingers trace the planes of my back, feeling every ridge and curve of me. "I want to remember how you feel against me."

Her hips shift subtly, pressing closer until she can feel the heat of my body.

"They will take everything else." Juliette speaks unsteadily, her throat tight with emotion. "But they cannot take this. This is ours."

She rises up onto her toes, pressing her body flush against mine, her small breasts flattening against my chest. The shower's heat intensifies the contrast of her skin against mine, making every point of contact electric. Her fingers curl against my back, nails pricking lightly through the water-slicked skin.

Her teeth graze my earlobe, drawing a gasp from me. Her body presses against mine with growing urgency, hips rolling in slow circles that send shocks of pleasure through my core. The water flows around us both, creating tiny rivers down her curves, tracing paths along her collarbone, between her breasts, over her stomach. Juliette's hands slide down to grip my hips, guiding me closer until I feel the heat between her thighs.

"God, I want you so badly," she breathes against my skin.

Her fingers dig into my flesh, pulling me flush against her as she arches her back. My cock pulses between us, growing harder as she moves against it. She lets out a soft, shuddering moan when she feels me pressing against her.

"Inside me," she gasps, her fingers tightening on my hips. "I need to feel you, John."

I lift her easily, turning so her back presses against the slick tiles. Her legs wrap around my waist instinctively, heels digging into my lower back as she arches toward me.

The tiles are cold against her back, but Juliette scarcely notices – the heat between her legs burns far hotter. She watches my face as I guide myself to her entrance, as I feel her slick folds yield to my first slow thrust. Her head tips back against the wall, a shudder running through her as I fill her.

"Fuck," she breathes, her nails scraping down my shoulders. "Yes."

I don't move right away, letting her adjust to me, letting her feel every inch stretching her. Her inner walls flutter around me, already clenching rhythmically. When I finally pull back slightly, she whines in protest before I push in again, harder this time.

Juliette's breath catches as I thrust, the stretch intense and perfect. Her fingers scramble for purchase against my shoulders, my biceps, my chest – anywhere she can feel me more deeply.

"Like this," she gasps, rolling her hips to take me deeper. "Oh god, right there."

Her body moving with mine in a frantic rhythm that makes, her pussy clenching around me with each thrust. Her back slides against the slick tiles, but she doesn't care – her focus is solely on me.

"John," she moans, her fingers twisting in my hair as she pulls me down for a messy, desperate kiss.

Her tongue tangles with mine, teeth scraping slightly. My grip tightens around her thighs as I pound into her, the slap of wet skin filling the shower stall along with her breathless moans. Her breasts bounce against my chest, nipples pebbled from the water trickling between our bodies.

"Don't stop," she gasps, her fingers digging into my shoulders. "Right there, John, please-"

I shift my angle slightly, and she arches off the tiles with a sharp cry, her inner walls clamping down on my cock like a vice.

Juliette tightens around me, her walls fluttering as she teeters on the edge. She gasps my name, nails digging into my skin as the pleasure coils inside her, waiting to snap.

I don't stop.

I pick up the pace, slamming into her harder now, each thrust driving her back against the cold tiles. Her body jerks with every movement, the water from the shower cascading over both of us like a torrential downpour.

"John, John- fuck-" She's losing control, back arching off the wall as her muscles contract around me. The sharp edge of orgasm is right there, ready to tip her over.

The climax crashes through her like a tidal wave, her whole body seizing as her pussy clenches around my cock in violent spasms. A guttural cry tears from her throat as she rides out the intense pleasure, her walls milking me desperately, nails leaving crescent-shaped marks in my skin.

I feel her come, her juices coating my length as I pound into her through every last shudder. The way she squeezes around me is almost too much to bear, but I don't stop – can't stop. I want to claim every ounce of pleasure from her, need to make her feel like she's the only woman who matters in this moment.

The hot rush of my cum fills her, pulsing deep inside as I bury myself to the hilt. Juliette's walls still tremble around me, clenching greedily as if trying to pull every last drop from me. She gasps my name, body shuddering with aftershocks.

I don't pull out. I hold her there, feeling her body soften against mine as she nuzzles into my neck, breath coming in uneven pants. Her fingers trace idle patterns across my back, the touch delicate despite her thighs still quivering around my hips.

"You did not pull out," she murmurs against my skin. Not an accusation – just an observation.

"I don't want to pretend that it matters anymore."

Juliette's body stiffens slightly at my words, her fingers pausing in their delicate tracing of my back. The water continues to pour over both of us. Steam thickens as if the air itself is holding its breath.

"I don't want to pretend also," she whispers, her words hoarse with emotion.

Her arms tighten around my neck, pulling me closer as her forehead rests against mine. The water beats against my skin as Juliette holds me, her body pressed flush against mine in a way that feels both intimate and final. Her hands slide down to my chest, fingers curling against the hard planes of muscle as she feels my heartbeat.

"I know you are scared for me," she says softly, looking up at me through wet lashes. "But I don't want to spend our last moments thinking about that. After tomorrow... I want you to remember this – how we are right now."

Her thumbs stroke circles against my collarbones, each touch deliberate.

"I want you to remember what it felt like for us to be this close together."

I cup the back of her head, fingers threading through her damp hair.

"I will. I will remember for both of us."

Juliette presses her face against my collarbone, her breath warm against my skin. Her hands slide up to my shoulders, then to my neck, fingertips grazing the sensitive skin there.

"Promise me," she murmurs.

I pull back just enough to look at her, water streaming down both our faces as the steam thickens around us. Her bright blue eyes shine up at me, full of intensity and resolve. The ghost of her smile crosses her face, but it doesn't quite reach her eyes.

"Promise me," she repeats, her grip tightening almost imperceptibly on my shoulders.

"I promise," I say, voice rough.

I wipe water from her cheek with my thumb, the movement slow and deliberate. She watches me, and something unspoken passes between us.

Her hands slide up to frame my face, water dripping from her fingers. She moves closer, lips just brushing mine as she speaks.

"Thank you," she whispers.

Then she kisses me.

It's not desperate like the other times. This is slower, softer – almost tender. She parts her mouth beneath mine, and I deepen the kiss without thinking, pulling her body flush against mine as the water cascades over both of us.

Her fingers tighten against my face, holding me close as she kisses me back with equal intensity. The steam swirls around us both, thickening the air between our bodies. I feel every shiver running through her, every tiny movement of her lips against mine. When she pulls back, her face is inches from mine, water still streaming down her cheeks.

"I love you," she says, breaking the kiss with those words.

I inhale sharply at the declaration, something twisting painfully in my chest. This moment of intimacy feels fragile against the backdrop of tomorrow's horror. My fingers tighten against the back of her head, not wanting to let go, not yet.

Juliette's breathing has quickened, her pulse hammering beneath my fingertips where they still rest against her neck. Her eyes search mine, looking for something – confirmation, understanding, perhaps even hope that this moment might stretch beyond its inevitable end.

"I have never said that to anyone before," she admits, her voice breaking slightly.

The water rushes over us both, but the roar of the shower has faded into white noise. I don't blink, don't breathe, as I absorb her words. Her face remains close to mine, her gaze fixed with an intensity that makes my chest constrict.

"I know," I say finally, my voice rough.

I press my forehead against hers again, unable to bear the distance between us. Her hands slide up to cradle my face, her thumbs brushing my cheekbones.

"Is true," she murmurs, speaking softly against my mouth. "I fell in love with you somewhere between the horror and the kindness. Between the machines and your hands."

She closes her eyes briefly, as if savoring this moment.

"I love you too Julie..." I confess. "Fuck, I love you so much."

The words tear from my throat, raw and unfiltered, before I can stop them. My arms tighten around her, pulling her flush against my body as the shower spray catches the tears spilling from my face. Her fingers dig into my back, pressing me closer as if she could fuse her body to mine.

"You are crying," she murmurs, awe and pain filling her words.

Her thumb brushes at the corner of my eye, smearing moisture across my skin.

The tears come faster now, unstoppable. I press my face against her shoulder, breathing in the floral shampoo mixed with something uniquely her. Her fingers thread through my hair, not trying to soothe but to hold me in place as if she can't bear the thought of me pulling away.

"I tried not to," I confess against her skin. "I tried so hard not to fall in love with you. With any of you."

Her arms tighten around me as I speak, her face pressing into the side of my neck.

"I know," she whispers, each word a soft breath against my damp skin. "I know you did. I know you didn't want this."

Her fingers trace patterns along my back, touching me gently despite the intensity between us. The water pounds against my shoulders, hot and relentless like my emotions.

"I knew I would lose you and yet here I am – a grown ass man crying like a little girl."

A shuddering laugh escapes my throat, bitter and broken as water streams down my face. Juliette's grip on you doesn't loosen – if anything, her fingers press harder into my back, as if she's afraid I might dissolve into the steam surrounding us both. She makes a soft sound, something between a sob and a sigh, and shifts her position to look up at me. My gaze burns into hers, wet and searching.

"You are not crying like a little girl," she says, speaking thickly. Her thumbs wipe at my tears, but more keep falling. "You are crying like someone who loves someone too much to let go."

The vulnerability in her voice mirrors my own.

"Why when we shower together, it always turns into a therapy session?" I mutter.

Her laughter is sharp, bitter.

"Because," she says, her words thick with unshed tears, "this is the only place we can be honest. The only time the cameras cannot see us." Her fingers trace idle patterns on my back, her touch light and hesitant. "You hold me when I cry, and I hold you when you cannot pretend anymore."

She tilts her head back, studying my face with an expression that's part pain and part understanding.

"We both use water as excuse to say things we cannot say anywhere else in this place." Her breathing falters, her fingers tightening on my skin. "It's our..."

She hesitates, struggling to find the right word. "... sanctuary."

"Let's move our sanctuary somewhere more comfortable, like the bedroom." I smile hesitantly. "I will order dinner for both of us here. Let's enjoy our time together while we can."

Juliette's eyes soften at my words, and she nods slowly. She reaches up to cup my face, her thumb brushing over my damp cheekbone.

"I would like that," she says, her voice quiet but steady.

She turns off the shower and steps out first, wrapping a plush towel around her body before grabbing another for me. As she pats herself dry, she keeps glancing at me, her expression unreadable.

"Dinner sounds good," she says, leading me to the bedroom with one hand held out. The sheets are still warm from earlier, the bedding soft against my skin as we both settle in. "What are you going to order?"

"Wait till you see the menu." I smirk. "Don't hold back – order everything you want. This is going to be your last dinner, might as well enjoy it while these bastards are paying."

Juliette's fingers tighten around the menu, her knuckles whitening slightly. She inhales sharply, then lets out a shaky laugh.

"You really don't soften things, no?" She studies the menu with unnatural focus, as if trying to memorize every word. "I don't even know what I want anymore."

Her eyes flick up to mine, revealing a moment of raw vulnerability before she quickly looks back down.

"The filet mignon. The whole lobster. And..." She hesitates, then meets my eyes with a sudden resolve. "Champagne. Lots of champagne." She forces a smile. "I want to be drunk for this."

"Order dessert too. As much as you want." I pause and add: "You don't need to worry about getting fat anymore."

A sharp, humorless laugh bursts from her lips.

"Getting fat?" She shakes her head, her ponytail swaying with the motion. "That is the least of my worries right now."

She flips through the dessert menu, her movements precise and measured.

"I will take the chocolate lava cake. The tiramisu. And..."

She pauses, her gaze meeting mine with sudden intensity.

"The strawberry shortcake. I did not have it since I was a kid." Her voice cracks on the last word, and she swallows hard. "They will let us have it, no? Even though tomorrow is..."

She trails off, unable to finish the sentence.

I nod grimly.

"They will think you're still blissfully ignorant about your fate and simply recovering from the horrors of the dungeon."

Juliette's shoulders sag in relief, and she gives a small, tired nod.

"Right. The noble host comforting his traumatized contestant."

Her fingers trace the edge of the menu as she studies it, her movements slow and deliberate.

"How many times have you done this, John? Fed the condemned their last meal?" She asks the question lightly, but there's a steel beneath it.

"I don't know if I want the answer," she continues, almost to herself. She doesn't look up from the menu. "But I guess I need to know. Just... how many?"

Her breath comes faster now, her free hand clutching the towel around her tighter.

"There was only one season before this. So once." I look away. "But I didn't tell the girl the truth then. The look in her eyes when she realized I betrayed her trust still haunts me."

Juliette's fingers freeze against the menu. She exhales slowly, steadily, but her hands start to tremble.

"Her name was...?"

"Astrid," I say quietly. The name still sends a pang through my chest. "She was so timid, but also so stubborn. I..." I stop, running a hand through my damp hair. "I had to make her think it was all part of the show. She never saw it coming until the last moment. That was the worst part – knowing what was happening and not being able to tell her."

Juliette reaches out and grips my hand. Her skin is warm, the pressure firm despite her visible shaking.

"You did what you had to do," she murmurs.

"No." I lightly squeeze her her hand back. "I did what I had to do with you – I actually told you the truth. And even now I think I could have done it better. Could have somehow thought of a way to save you."

Juliette's grip on my hand tightens almost painfully. Her bright blue eyes search mine, glistening with tears she blinks back.

"John... you cannot save me. No one can." She whispers, raw with emotion. "But at least you let me know. At least you gave me... this."

Her free hand gestures vaguely at the room, the food menu, the moment.
