Oh and the "second hole" issue is going to be dealt with in the next chapter. My intent was that they realise she has so little time left to live, they decide to leave the rest of the prep for now so that she can enjoy at least a little bit of time in the oven. Sorry if I didn't make that properly clear in the text :)
