Hi Symbri! I read all through this this afternoon and I'm very impressed! I have some observations, primaririly that I want to separate my personal taste from technical critique.
Personally, I am not super comfortable with worlds where cannibalism is a matter of lottery, punishment or legal obligation - for me the consent and enthusiasm is what makes it sexy. Having said that, I do have an idea hinted at in my stories set in the further future where a "farm piggies" are the result of genetic engineering and not considered human by the general population, bred exclusively to be raised for meat, but that is different from forcing it on members of the general pubic.
HOWEVER I thought your world-building was incredible on a technical level and you have a great talent for it! Every single aspect of your world is well thought-out and logical, feeling very plausible and real!
The ideas put me in mind of two other stories - the first was the background given by a writer on another forum who wrote spin-offs of Splyf's Trine and Christine stories but went into a lot more detail about how cannibalism was introduced and became a social norm.
The other was an episode of the 90s sci-fi show "Sliders" where the characters jump between parallel universes, seeing different ways Earth culture could play out. In one episode they find themselves in a world where everyone between certain ages (I think it was 18-25) has a "jewel" implated in the back of their hand and organ donation is mandatory. If a "prominant citizen" needs an organ, their doctors can identify a suitable donor from their database and that person's jewel begins to blink, presumably giving out some sort of homing signal, at which point a sort of SWAT team shows up to take them away to be "harvested" - your coloured watches and age-based lottery reminded me of that!
All in all, amazing work, if not entirely to my personal taste. Do you plan on writing stories set within this universe? Or hoping others will use it as a basis for their own? :)
