XX – TREATMENT OF DISEASED OR UNSUITABLE ANIMAL STOCK

HEALTH SCREENING
Processing Centers maintain strict biological safety standards to protect the stability of the human food supply.
All Animals undergo routine medical examination during intake and at scheduled intervals while housed within Processing facilities.
These examinations evaluate:
• infectious disease risk
• long-term tissue viability
• organ health
• contamination hazards
• overall culinary grade potential
The purpose of these examinations is not punitive.
They exist to ensure that all Processing outputs remain safe for civilian consumption.

PRE-CONVERSION MEDICAL EXEMPTION
Citizens diagnosed with terminal illness or severe degenerative conditions may be removed from Lottery eligibility prior to Conversion.
This exemption exists for two primary reasons:
• humanitarian consideration for medically vulnerable citizens
• preservation of food safety within the national supply system
Medical exemptions are typically granted for conditions including:
• advanced cancers
• severe neurological degeneration
• systemic infectious disease
• organ failure conditions
Citizens granted exemption retain full Civic status unless they voluntarily enter the Conversion system.

POST-CONVERSION HEALTH FAILURE
In cases where an Animal develops or reveals a medical condition after Conversion, the Processing Authority evaluates the individual for appropriate reassignment.
Possible outcomes include:
• Lower Grade Processing
Animals with minor health irregularities may be redirected toward industrial food production systems where strict culinary grading is not required.
• Working Animal Assignment
Animals physically capable of labor but unsuitable for culinary markets may be assigned to Working Animal programs.
These Animals perform manual or hazardous tasks that support agricultural, sanitation, or industrial infrastructure.
• Expedited Processing
Animals presenting biological risks that may compromise facility safety may be scheduled for accelerated Processing.
The guiding principle of the system remains consistent:
All Animals contribute to civic stability in some capacity.

WASTE PREVENTION POLICY
System doctrine strongly discourages biological waste.
Processing Centers are instructed to utilize as much of the Animal as safely possible through regulated food distribution, industrial byproducts, or agricultural support systems.
This policy reflects a foundational belief of the Age of Correction:
Civilization survived the Famine by learning that resources must never be wasted.
