First, as I said in previous posts, I love your work. Can’t wait for a book 2 to come out, but as to what someone said about how harsh it was that mistress just ended Hamish even though he was a companion animal did they couldn’t do that their cat what if companion animals had a set use by time and while not discussed Hamish‘s might’ve been up and she decided to give him what he wanted. This could explain her attitude in that like certain youth groups, raising cow, pigs, and chickens today, these animals are treated better than the generic livestock to win best in show, but in the end, they have one destination the plate. This could also answer the question of do they harvest more people to compensate for those that they come companion animals or do they not bother because the companion animals will just wind up back in the food supply just a few years farther down the road
