After I had answered three questions Martha said that was enough and if people wanted to ask more they could either book a private interview or submit their questions in writing then she told them all how she could be contacted. Then I walked around a bit and had photos with people but Martha said quietly to be careful not to say more than just small-talk as people would pay a lot of money for interviews and we shouldn’t give too much away for free.

I am booked to appear on Jimmy Falon’s show on TV tonight but Martha says I should get some rest and try to sleep a bit and she will come to the house and make sure I am up for when they send the car. I went back outside to talk to the people there, especially the girls, and take more pictures with people who had missed out earlier then me and Mrs Webber got back in Meat Girl 1. Martha was worried the press or others might try to follow me home so she said we should go back to the hotel so I could change and nobody would notice me leaving later in a normal cab. Mrs Webber teased me in the car saying she was not surprised nobody got a good look at my face but she said the speech was awesome and I should be very proud.

I am back at the house now. Martha was right. There were still photographers outside the hotel when I left but I walked straight past them in my jeans and hokey jersey and they totally ignored me. Mrs Webber not one of the men from the kitchen to walk out with me and wave me off like he was my dad and I just popped in to say hi which probably helped but still it was very funny.

There was a message from Jessie when I looked at my phone. She is mad I said I found the book in the house when she gave it to me. I tried to call her but she didn’t answer so I guess her mom was around but I sent her a message explaining Martha told me to say that and I wasn’t trying to cut her out. She just messaged back say OK which made me sad but hopefully her mom will come around soon and we can be friends again. I am too excited from the day to sleep right away so I will have a hot bath even though I had a hotel at the shower. Perhaps I can pretend the hot bath is a big stew pot!

[Editor’s Note – The entries that follow mostly concern interviews that are already widely available online or reproduced in other media and do not offer any further insight into Sidney’s personal thoughts or significant events. On Monday 20th May 2019 Sidney returned to school and was pleased to find everyone treating her as normal despite lots of girls talking about the posters and the campaign, apparently not realising that Sidney Roebuck was the alter-ego of their school-mate Sidney Mansfield. TV appearances during the week were pre-recorded in late afternoon and the following weekend Sidney spent all of Saturday and Sunday at the campaign office. The next incident of note is covered by entries beginning Monday 10th June 2019.]

Monday 10th June 2019

Martha sent me a message at lunch time and said I should come to the office after school which I probably would have anyway but she seemed very excited and said she had something to show me so after school I walked the few blocks and enjoyed walking past my huge posters that are everywhere without anyone recognising me and to the office. I went straight to the back where Martha and Claude were waiting looking really happy and they said we should go in my office so we did and I sat on the sofa between them. Martha had a big brown envelope with the office address in pink marker pen on the front and she gave it to me to open. I asked how she knew it was something cool if she’d not opened it but she said she got an email telling her to look out for it and that she knew what it was but wanted me to have a surprise. On the back like a seal with a glittery sticker of a pink cowboy hat like mine. I peeled it off carefully and stuck it on the side of my book case with with slight stickiness left on the back because I thought it was cool then I tore the envelope open.

Inside there were two A4 photographs printed on a home printer and a hand-written letter with four names on the bottom. I looked at the pictures first. They both showed four girls ranging in age from I guessed 6 up to 10 or 11 and in the first picture they were stood side by side with their arms round each other in front of a table outside but all naked apart from hats like mine but cheaper ones like from a costume store and boots! One was in red, one in white, one in a pink hat and brown boots and the littlest one in a pink had and pink sneakers instead of boots. In the other picture they were stood behind the table an I saw it was a bake-sale but everything was themed.

In the middle was a cake shaped like a rump with pink frosting and a sign saying Raffle Tickets $1 each so I guess that was the prize but also there were heart cookies made from pink dough that had been cut before cooking most of the way up so they looked like fillets and round pink cookies with cherries in the middle to look like nipples. There were cupcakes that looked like little tits too and gingerbread girls and girl-shaped cookies with pink, white, red and blue hats and boots all with blonde curly hair and blobs of pink frosting for nipples. Then there were cookies that looked like my hat and boots and big cookies with M&Ms in them with big yellows Ses drawn on them.

I took a picture of the letter which is written in dark pink glitter-pen on lighter pink paper with some more stickers so I could copy it out exactly.

Dear Sidney,

My name is Beth and I am 10 years old. My sister Charlotte who is 8 like you and our friends Chloe and Emily who are 10 and 6 and live next door heard about your campaign and wanted to help. We would all love to be meat-girls like you when you win your campaign. Do you think we look tasty? I am the one in red, Charlotte is the one in white and Chloe and Emily are the ones in the pink hats. Emily says she is sorry she does not have boots like yours and hopes you don’t mind she wore her sneakers as they are pink like her hat.

We decided to hold a bake sale to raise money for your campaign and since it’s not legal to sell our own meat yet we decided to make cookies and cakes that look like bits of girl and the outfit you wear. Our Mom helped and made the rump cake for the raffle. Lots of people wanted to take pictures of us too so we started charging $1 for just one and $5 for all of us and put a tip jar out too. We sold all 200 tickets for the raffle and sold out of all the treats. In the end we made $1000 to send to you. We really hope it helps!

We are making a scrap book of all your pictures we find and record you every time you are on TV. We hope to be able to visit your campaign HQ one day and meet you for real (Or should that be Meat you? Hehe!)

Lots of love and best of luck from your fellow meat-girls!

Then they had all signed their names at the bottom. Their address just outside Jackson, Mississippi was on the back of the letter along with a note from their mom saying they would be donating the $1000 via the link on the site and asking if I would mind writing back and sending a signed picture. I said to Martha I think we can do better than that and she said she had been thinking the same since she got the email from Beth and Charlotte’s mom telling her about the letter and what was in it.

We both love the idea of fundraising bake-sales and she said we should talk about these girls on social media and suggest other supporters do their own. I had the idea we should make packs we can send out with costume hats and maybe boot-covered for girls who don’t have their own and price labels and stickers with my picture or the logo on. Claude said we could send them banners and a cut-out of me too to help attract attention!

I signed four of the cards with my picture on that we have to send out to people who write in and hand-wrote a reply thanking them for the donation and their hard work and inviting the four of them and their parents to come stay as our guests at Daddy’s hotel so they could visit the office and help us launch the new bake sale idea. Martha said she would send an email to their mom to let her known the letter was coming but ask her to keep it a secret. I said we should ask her for their hat and shoe-sizes too and to find out their favourite colours so we can get them outfits the same quality as mine for when they visit. Martha said that was a lovely idea. I was not wearing any makeup so I asked Martha to borrow her lipstick so I could kiss the bottom of the letter under where I put my name. Martha promised she would get my reply posted out so it will get there tomorrow or the day after.

Martha and the team work really fast! Before I went to bed last night she sent me an email showing the stickers and cards and the banners that have pictures of me on either end, one front one back and say “Bake Sale Today”. She also sent me a picture of a cheap shiny pink cowboy hat with a gold plastic S on the front and boot covers the same material that she is getting made so we can send them out as part of the kit. I hope the girls are pleased with my invite and reply soon! I thought the rump cake was so funny!

Wednesday 12th June 2019

Got a message from Martha that she had got a reply to her email and the two families are coming on Friday night! We are flying them in and I will meet them at Love Field in Meat Girl 1 and we will go to the hotel where we’ve got three rooms for them so the parents can have a romantic night if they want then on Saturday we will surprise them with the hats and boots then go to the office to launch the bake sale project and tell people about the packs they can send in for. Hope they don’t mind being naked in front of all the TV and news cameras! I guess we can get them bikinis if they are shy like I wore on Jimmy Falon but they did the bake sale naked in their own neighbourhood so I bet they won’t mind! Martha promised we will have all the stuff by then to show. Daddy said he will treat everyone to dinner in the evening. They will fly back Sunday brunch which will be at the hotel so they can go back to school on Monday.

Got another awesome letter from the girls today saying how excited they are about the visit. Martha said Claude had got me an outfit to wear when we go out Saturday night so I will still look like the Sidney they know. He showed me and it is tight white denim jeans, not baggy blue ones like I normally wear, with a white crop-top and a pink and white checked shirt over the top, tied in the middle to show my belly with pink cowboy boots just without the rhinestones and a matching belt with the logo on the buckle and a hat that matches the boots. It feels a bit mean to be pretending to be my normal self but still wearing a costume when the girls have been so nice and supportive but they want to meet and spend time with their hero who is the Sidney character they know from TV.

Friday 14th June 2019

Staying in the hotel apartment tonight so I can have breakfast with the girls for the cameras. Daddy is busy until tomorrow so he’s not here right now but Martha is staying in his room. Went to meet the girls at Love Field in full mascot costume of course and the press were there to take pictures. The girls were in the hats and boots they’d worn in the pictures they sent but with normal clothes on too. They were super excited to see me waiting for them outside and all gave me big hugs. Martha told their parents just to tell them we were sending a car to collect them! The girls came with me in Meat Girl 1 and Martha travelled with the four parents in one of Daddy’s other limos. They seem really nice but of course were tired from their flight after being at school all day too so we didn’t keep them up too late. Mrs Webber helped me show them to the room they were sharing while Martha showed the parents to their rooms.
