Dr. Egon Mars's last daughter.

“Dad, you won’t believe what Becky said at school today,” Lila began as she stormed
into her father’s study.

Her father, Dr. Egon Mars, didn't look up from his laptop. His eyes remained fixed on
the screen, scrolling through a series of images that definitely belonged to his
scientific work. He had always been a man of few words, preferring to chat quietly
about his thoughts and research. Lila was his youngest daughter, a bright girl with an
insatiable curiosity that often got her into trouble.

“What did Becky say?” he asked, his voice muffled by the documents and screens
that surrounded him.

Lila rolled her eyes and plopped down into a chair. “It’s just the same old thing about
how I’m not normal because I don’t have a mom. Like that’s my fault!”

Dr. Mars sighed, pushing aside a few papers. He knew Becky’s antics were just a way
to get his attention, but he also knew how much those words stung Lila. He had tried
to keep his personal and professional life separate, but it seemed that Lila’s curiosity
had led her to a corner of his digital world that he had wanted to keep hidden.

"Why don’t you tell Becky that you’re special?" he suggested, turning his chair to
face her. "Your mom was an amazing woman, Lila. She was a part of this research,"
he said, nodding towards the cluttered desk. "And because of her, I’ve been able to
make breakthroughs that no one else can even imagine."
Lila looked skeptical. "Research on what?"
