Ah but the prestige of winning is enough to push everyone to higher standards, meaning those who come second or third are probably superior to those who would have come first under the old system ;) Plus eating the losers would go against the whole ethos of my Sidneyverse by making being eaten a punishment or forfeit rather than something aspirational ;)
