Although the play had impressive sets and costumes, the story felt really contrived, and I often lost track of characters. Acting was mixed, with the always great Xavier Anderson giving the best performance and the others merely passable ones, with one exception; Lily Dover’s brave body double. Obviously, I can’t recommend the play based on her... And I do feel that immediately holding up her head, showing us her face as she died was too much. Letting her disappear into a basket would have been more tasteful, but the director is obviously compensating for weak writing with shock value. 2/5
