Yes, I am actually trans. Obviously I should be in therapy instead of asking strangers on the internet to reinforce the worst of the slander I absorb from the culture in the damnable country, but if we made good choices none of us would be on this site now, would we?

If -- or rather, when -- I get hurt, it's going to be on my own terms. I can't control when I hear news stories demonizing me. I can't control when my family deadnames me or hits me with that "oh but it's so hard to remember your pronouns now" bullshit, or when another visibly queer person calls me she/her with their mouth while their eyes tell me they think he/him & are just translating to be polite.

I can't control when the world hurts me, but I can control when I hurt myself. Maybe it'll be cathartic. Maybe it'll just make everything worse. Either way, it's my choice. Mine. Not theirs.
