mad respect to you for using references rather than just copying the typical anime art style. medical gore is a great place to start, but in my experience you get a lot more from the image boards of shock sites! a lot of them have been shut down, but theync consistently posts high quality photosets with different kinds of injuries in a variety of lighting. color picking directly from pictures is a great way to familiarize yourself with what the body looks like until youre confident in your ability to choose a color scheme.

but mostly comfort drawing gore is going to come from practice! using real gore as a reference is going to give you a big advantage, but its still a learning curve. this might be presumptuous but if you have any examples of your art id be happy to give you some feedback! good luck!
