Kohta's body shakes with every step he takes towards the temple. His entire body is on the verge of collapse as fear overwhelms his young mind. He had known for a long time that this day would come, that his name would be picked, but that doesn't make it any easier as he forces his feet to move towards his sacrifice. The only thing keeping him going is the thought of his parents getting to live long and happy lives, the villagers enjoying peace-filled days, and his sister's warm and beautiful smile.

When Kohta reaches the temple's massive wooden doors, a white robed figure takes his hands and guides him into the temple. The pair travel through the many chambers and corridors that fill the building, until reaching a vast room with a domed ceiling and intricate carvings in the walls and pillars. As Kohta passes the carvings, he recognizes a few as depictions of their gods and the stories he used to be told. Standing in the center of the room, is a short man with a dour expression, wearing a black robe and a medallion, one that indicates the head of the temple. He makes a simple gesture in front of him, and Kohta timidly but obediently walks up to him.

"Kneel." The man said in a gentle but commanding voice, and Kohta quietly got to his knees. His heart is racing, it's hard to breathe, and he squeezes his eyes shut so he can prepare for the moment he feels the blade put in his hands, but instead, Kohta feels a hand softly grip his shoulder in reassurance. He looks up in surprise and sees the man kneeling and looking at him with sympathy and comfort. Suddenly, so much of Kohta's stress and fear washes away as he looks at the Head of the Temple.

"Tell me, Young Kohta, do you know what sin lies within you?" The Head Priest asks, his voice now warm and soothing. Kohta knew they would ask him this question, but he had hoped he was wrong. It is well known in the village that the choosing of names is a way to allow the gods to choose who the sacrifice will be, and that those that the gods chose always hold a deep darkness within. It is how Kohta knew he would be picked one day.

Kohta casts his eyes to the ground and hangs his head in shame as he says, "It's my sister, sir. I-I- I love her. I have for a while now.". Kohta's body relaxes as he admits his sin. He had never said it before, and it feels like a heavy weight lifted off his shoulders when he does, but he keeps his eyes down. He knows this is a grave sin, one that could destroy his family, and he expects the Head Priest to berate him for it. However, when Kohta finally looks back up at him, the Head Priest gives a slow and understanding nod.

"I see, the sin of forbidden love. One of the cruelest if you ask me, as we cannot fully chose who we love.", The Head Priest says in a sincere voice. Kohta watches as the Head Priest expression changes, his eyes looking off to the side, clearly contemplating what he is about to say. When the Head Priest looks Kohta in the eyes again, they have a worried look to them. "Kohta, have you and your sister ever- '', the Head Priest begins to say.

Kohta's eyes widen as he realizes the question and he practically yells, "NO, no, no, no, no, no. My sister is completely innocent in all this. She doesn't even know. Please, don't-". Kohta pleas as cut off as the Head Priest gently pats his shoulders and gives a small chuckle.

"Do not worry, Kohta. Your sister has nothing to fear from us.", the Head Priest says, before turning his head to the Robed Man who guided Kohta here and nodding at him. The man then quickly leaves the room. The pair wait in silence for a few minutes, the atmosphere crushing Kohta as he wonders what they're waiting for and what the robed man went to do, but he gets his answers when the Robed Man finally returns, and with his sister following him.

His sister, kitty, seems confused and worried, but when her eyes land on Kohta, she rushes to his side and pulls him into a warm hug. Kohta feels the blood rush to his face as he tries to hug her back. The Head Priest eventually has to give a small cough to get the pair's attention again. When the pair look back at him, they see he is now standing up, his arms held high over his head, and in one hand he holds a blade. The Head priest then speaks with a loud voice that reverberates around the room, "Kohta, for your acceptance of the gods will and honesty for your sin, not only will you be forgiven in death, but both your life after death, and the death itself, shall be blessed."

The Head Priest hands Kohta the blade, and Kohta accepts it without a word. He lifts the blade up and prepares to plunge it into himself, when he feels Kittys arms gently wrap around him and pull him onto her lap. Kohta looks up at her in surprise and sees her giving a sad smile as she holds him tight. Kohta offers her the most reassuring smile he can manage, before returning his focus to his task. Kohta raises the blade high over his head, and with all the strength he can muster, plunges the knife into his stomach.

As the blade pierces Kohta up to the hilt, he is shocked to find that he feels no pain. In fact, a strange warmth envelops him and he can't help but smile. Kohta leans his head back against Kitty, looking up at her and giving her a deeply adoring smile. Her beautiful eyes entranced him, and Kohta hardly notices his vision darkening, as he loses himself in her eyes. Kohta doesn't know if the strange bliss is the blessing of the gods or because he knows he will spend his final moments with his beloved sister, it could very well be both, but Kohta finds himself happily accepting his death.

Darkness overtakes his vision and Kohta senses his death approaching, but before he finally goes, Kohta feels a pair of soft lips kiss him. Now, Kohta can die in absolute bliss.
