My kids had asked if they could to go to our local funfair, so my wife decided to take them this evening.

Now, I wasn’t much into funfairs at my age, but my curiosity was aroused when our government told us there would be some unique attractions at this particular funfair.

You see, our government and military had just won out battling the rebels that plagued our country, and they were keen that everyone had some fun after such hard times.

So I tagged along as we walked over the common to the funfair in the distance.

Basics

Each new paragraph should be on a new line with a blank space in between.

Like so.

It might look like you have a lot of blank space at first, but it's much easier to read in the long run. This helps mitigate walls of text.

Dialogue

You're writing a story, presumably with characters, who presumably speak at some point. Every time a different character speaks, their dialogue gets its own paragraph. Again, it looks like it leaves a lot of space, but it's easy to read (and professional).
