    Users can moderate their own threads now (to an extend - it's the ability to hide the posts in their threads by default rather than deleting them like the site staff can), post with the proof they are the OP, assign other users that ability etc.
    The moderating buttons show up for only the OP. Claim thread function just opens a window where they can enter the password of the thread (you can go ahead and press it on any thread to see it), and if they get it right, they would access the buttons. It could be used by people who use browsers that don't store the data

    These hosters have a big advantage over the others seen here, like mega.nz, gofile.io, imgur.com etc.:
    They don't require JS to be enabled.
    This is important because even when surfing with a proxy or TOR a user can be identified by browser fingerprinting if a website can run JS-based test-programs.

    If you like to help keep GUROchan clean, you can now use the report feature.
    The report-thread on /dis that has been used so far, is no longer necessary and has been locked.

    You can report anything that is against the rules (CP, Spam, real porn, photorealistic AI...),
    stuff that doesn't belong on a specific board, get an admins attention about questionable activities (trolling, flaming...)
    or even if you posted something in error and forgot to set a delete password (see academy-entry about how to delete your own post or thread).

    Depending if you have JavaScript enabled or not, you'll find an arrow ▶ next to each post, or directly the entry "report".
    Clicking on the arrow will open a box, where you can choose between hiding a post or thread (only for yourself) and reporting such a post or thread.
    Clicking on report will in both cases open the reporting-dialog, without JS in the same window, with JS in a pop-up. (see screenshot)

    All reports go to a pool, where the admins will either approve or dismiss them.
    Approval will result in an action (deletion, movement or at least an answer)

    New to this discussion, I'll try to add some helpful things from my own experience.
    This is supposed to be a general collection of thoughts and observations for anyone having problems,
    because discussions looking for answers appear from time to time on /dis.

    In my opinion that makes a lot of sense, because here you can meet people willing to think outside the
    box and face rather strange and extreme thoughts from a supposed "normal" or mainstream point of view.

    Maybe in the end there will even be a bit of slightly helpful information in there for this specific topic.
    I do hope so.

    I think you may have misunderstood that point.

    1) this is a tip especially about depression and not specifically directed at the topic.
    as mentioned in the beginning, a lot of the things said are speaking in general. there are
    more people looking for help on /dis from time to time and a thread like this can stay
    here for a rather long time. so not everything in the long text must be for you.

    2) sexual activity of course includes anything one can do alone. the reason for that tip is,
    that the human brain produces endorphins when the body is sexually active.
    not everybody knows this. it can be very helpful when fighting sadness and depression instead of

    First of all, I'm generally happy that lots of people are now using the report system, especially reporting on the annoying spam we get here that we still can't automatically filter out.

    On the other hand, as someone who needs to approve or dismiss reports, I'm fairly often left wondering... Why?

    Spam reports are blazingly obvious most of the time. No need to type in a reason for those.

    I can fairly often figure out why someone perhaps thought a post was off topic, or maybe looked too AI but wasn't posted in the AI forum... things like that.

    But if your reason to report something is not obvious, and you haven't typed in a reason to report that post, expect the report to be dismissed. We aren't mind readers 😄

    A thread on the AI board just got deleted, along with a comment I had just written. I don’t know if it was deleted by a moderator for being a realistic GIF on gurochan, or deleted by the OP, possibly because he didn’t like my comment or others. But I think the discussion made some important points so I’m reposting my comment.

    The OP had said “it went viral and garnered over 2,000 likes. The video was so realistic that no one realized it was AI-generated.” I responded (approximately) “Do I understand you to mean that over 2000 people thought it was a real video of a real person getting her real breasts cut off, and in that belief, they LIKED it?” I don’t see how his statement can be taken any other way.

    I then said, and I stand by it now, that I have absolutely no objection to AI generating any fantasy, no matter what it is and no matter how realistic it looks. (One exception I’d consider is deliberately making it look like a real person, against that person’s will, such as celebrity fakes.) But one person ‘liking’ what they think is a real attack on a real person is bad enough, and two or more people supporting each other in that with ‘likes’ constitutes a “cesspool of madness” that someone said Reddit had become (but inexplicably he said so because of common hatred for AI, not for common acceptance of real crimes).

    But yes to your point, it does seem weird, at least if one's hatred of AI is a supposedly a moral stance against excessive energy consumption and displacing human artists and the like, to prefer that one is seeing a real human being tortured.

    If one is amoral however, or if one likes to think of oneself as moral but lust outweighs one's moral concerns, there is a certain evil logic in preferring to see the "real thing" over a fake.
